Title: IBMi Senior Systems Administrator
Salary: $110,000-$140,000
Location: must reside in San Diego- can work remotely unless there are any hardware outages so this person but be within a 30 minute commute of San Diego.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in a Systems Administrator or similar IT role
Strong IBM i / AS/400 / iSeries experience
Hands-on BRMS/backup management experience
Experience supporting IBM Power environments
SAN/storage exposure, specifically IBM DS8000
Ability to be hands-on locally when systems/issues require physical presence
Self-starter who can operate independently as a trusted local resource
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Deep expertise in security, performance monitoring, or system optimization
Experience with HA/DR, production system monitoring, and system maintenance (IPL, PTFs, SAVSYS)
CL programming experience
Knowledge of HTTP, Apache servers, and IBM Web Services
Experience with VTL backups and clustered environments
Strong documentation skills and understanding of SOX controls
Familiarity with IT security frameworks (COBIT, ISACA, SANS)
Prior experience mentoring or supporting Helpdesk/desktop teams

Insight Global is seeking a Sr. IBMi Systems Administrator for a mortgage services client in San Diego, CA. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting IBMi systems in a highly regulated, production-focused environment. The ideal candidate is a seasoned systems administrator with strong BRMS and backup expertise who can be relied on as a local, hands-on resource. This role offers the opportunity to own critical infrastructure, work closely with a small, specialized IBMi team, and ensure the stability, security, and performance of enterprise systems that directly support the business. This is a fulltime opportunity that allows the flexibility to work from home most of the time, but ideally located a commutable distance from the San Diego office, should any on-site support be needed.
Day-to-Day
Install and maintain IBM i system software, upgrades, and patches
Monitor and support Production, HA, and DR environments
Manage BRMS backups, replication, and recovery processes
Support and monitor SAN/storage systems under IBM Systems Manager guidance
Perform system maintenance tasks (IPL, PTFs, SAVSYS, performance tuning)
Monitor security access, assist with audits and access reviews
Develop and distribute performance and system health reporting
Act as a local, hands-on escalation point for IBMi related issues
Support Helpdesk and PC teams with escalated system issues
Participate in off-hours work as business needs arise
