We are looking foraSenior Software Engineer II,Gameplayto join the World of Warcraft Gameplay team and help shape the future of Azeroth! You willbe responsible forfeature development forthe Live Game group. Examplesinclude:

Our teamtacklessome of the most challengingandrewardingtechnical problemsin the industry. As a gameplay engineer,you will havethe autonomy, responsibility, and tools to tackle these problemshead-on. We seek a creativeengineer who can quickly adapt to new systems, independently learn and solve complex problems in a large code base, while collaborating withpartnersand integrating existing codeforimprovementsfor our players and development team.

This role offers a flexible hybrid work week, with a mix of remote and on-site days.While hybrid is the standard arrangement, you're also welcome to work on-site full-time if you prefer. Our primary studio locationis inBoston, MA, orIrvine, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with designers, engineers, and artists to architect medium to large features from concept to delivery to live support.

  • Work with feature production partners to schedule, estimate, and evaluate risks.

  • Improve workflows for development partners.

  • Maintain and enhance existing player experiences.

  • Mentor and guide engineers at all levels.

  • Contribute to and help foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful team culture.

MinimumRequirements:

  • 12+ years of combined professional experience and/or relevant education in software engineering.

  • Fluencyin C++orC#.

  • Strong data structures, logic, distributed systems, and algorithm skills.

  • Self-motivation and willingness toparticipatein many areas of game development.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • High levelsof curiosity and desire to learn, with an emphasis on player engagement and metrics

Bonus Points:

  • Your experience and interestinplaying or crafting video games.

  • Knowledge ofWorld ofWarcraft or other MMORPGs.

  • Experience with owning and driving the development of a technical feature from start to finish.

  • Familiarity with code and memory optimization inreal-timeapplications.

  • Understanding ofclient/server architecture.

  • Familiarity with character, camera, control, or combat systems.

  • Knowledge of Lua or scripting.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $121,500.00 - $224,880.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
