Senior Scientist, Discovery – Cambridge, MA


Our Cambridge based biotech client is seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Senior Scientist is sought to join a fast‑paced and collaborative Discovery team in Cambridge, MA. This role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on an innovative RNA‑editing pipeline by identifying high‑value targets and driving hands‑on experimental validation. The ideal candidate is scientifically curious, adaptable, and comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams to design, execute, and analyze experiments that advance discovery efforts. This role requires 5x per week onsite in Cambridge, MA.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and validate RNA‑editing targets using a range of in vitro and in vivo assays.
  • Evaluate disease targets based on clinical and genetic evidence, unmet need, RNA‑editing suitability, and commercial potential.
  • Identify RNA editing sites that enhance protein expression or activity.
  • Establish and run cell‑based assays to support target discovery and validation.
  • Prepare clear, detailed study summaries and present findings to cross‑functional teams.
  • Collaborate closely with research colleagues to ensure timely execution of experiments and data generation.
  • Maintain accurate electronic lab notebook records and update documentation such as SOPs and batch records.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards while contributing positively to team culture.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant post‑graduate experience in academia or industry.
  • Strong background in RNA biology and regulation; experience in target search and evaluation is a plus.
  • Hands‑on experience with cell‑based assays such as RT‑qPCR, ELISA, MSD, or western blotting.
  • Excellent documentation habits and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and adapt within a dynamic environment.
