The Senior Research Scientist; Cell Biology is an integral part of the team, contributing to our success towards assay development, target characterization, screening and lead optimization for client-based projects and internal development projects by applying a strong scientific background in cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry with a focus on pre-clinical drug discovery research for both protein therapeutics and traditional small molecule drugs.

Responsibilities
- Develop cellular and biochemical assays to test novel therapeutics or characterize interactions to understand the underlying mechanism of diseases.
- Compose research plans, execute experiments, and deliver project results to clients
- Manage multiple projects and train and supervise junior researchers
- Demonstrate expertise in the analysis and interpretation of complex experimental data. Demonstrate a mastery of the quality indicators required for validation of an assay, engineered cell line or protein product
- Maintain comprehensive, up to date records of experimental methods, materials, calculations, results, observations and outcomes (decisions) in compliance with Curia laboratory notebook policy. Record all appropriate data electronically in Curia databases
- Apply and be able to train others in a broad spectrum of practical laboratory skills; including molecular biology, cell culture, biochemistry, assay development, in depth analysis of bioactivity data and the use of automated equipment
- Apply and be able to train others in methods used to identify, characterize and prioritize potentially therapeutic compounds for in vivo efficacy studies
- Conduct laboratory operations in a safe manner and train others in safe operations.
- Submit acceptable written periodic reports. Prepare summaries of experimental findings reliably and independently, and communicate results both verbally and in writing to customers
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology/ Molecular biology, Biochemistry or MS/BS with equivalent relevant experience and leadership experience
- Experience in successfully managing complex biology projects.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
- 2 years of postdoctoral experience. (MS/BS with equivalent experience and leadership acceptable)
- Experience in managing resources and personnel.
- Molecular biology applied to neuroscience disease research.
- Assay development for HTS and lead characterization experience.
- Experience in label free screening techniques and mass spectrometry.
- Experience interfacing with customers
Other Qualifications
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a drug screen
- May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
Pay Range: $79,000/yr.
Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
