Larimer County Purchasing is seeking an experienced purchasing professional to join our collaborative team as a Senior Purchasing Agent. This position plays a key role in leading complex procurement activities, supporting departments across the organization, and helping strengthen purchasing operations through technical expertise, process improvement, and strong partnership-building.
Our team values collaboration, problem-solving, and a positive work environment. This position follows a hybrid schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with two in-office days per week (Wednesdays and one additional day of choice). Increased in-person attendance may be required during the first three months following hire.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading complex procurement activities, including competitive solicitations and contract administration.
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to purchasing staff.
- Partnering with departments across the organization to support procurement needs and identify effective solutions.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and increase cost efficiencies.
- Managing and troubleshooting procurement and financial systems.
- Working with data and reporting tools to support purchasing operations and decision-making.
- Serving as the financial system’s Purchasing Module Master.
- Overseeing Purchasing’s external procurement software.

- A collaborative team-oriented approach and a good sense of humor that contributes positively to a six-person team environment.
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related field required. A combination of education or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Three (3) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB), Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), NIGP Certified Procurement Professional (NIGP-CPP),
Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) or equivalent within 12 months of hire date required.
Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required.
