Recruiter: Carolyn Harris | carolyn.harris@airliquide.com

We currently operate 6 plants that process landfill-based biogas to pipeline-quality renewable natural gas (RNG), with more under development. In particular, the Project Development and Execution team has a mission to develop, build and commission new plants that process raw landfill-based biogas into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas (RNG). The Sr Project Engineer will report to the team’s manager, and is positioned as a “end to end project lifecycle” technical leadership position, serving as the primary engineering lead for the group throughout a project’s lifecycle, focusing on balancing technical rigor with cost: (i) supporting business development personnel in specification of technical solutions; (ii) leading the RFP/RFQ/RFI process during execution, including review of engineering drawings with the project team; (iii) managing engineering contractors, and ensuring all deliverables meet appropriate industry standards and quality reviews; (iv) serving as an internal expert and resource for process & instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, process control narratives and specifics related to the process control logic to commission, start-up and operate biogas-to-RNG plants.

Job Description

  • Design Lead: (i) act as the technical/engineering lead for the Project Development and Execution team; (ii) apply advanced knowledge of industry standards, guidelines, specifications, and procedures during development of comprehensive RFP packages for equipment vendors, engineering firms and construction contractors; (iii) lead design activities and manage design deliverables and performance of design quality reviews.
  • Process Safety: (i) contribute to HAZOP reviews and lead closure of technical action items; (ii) identify, report and address safety issues and opportunities for improvement during plant construction, equipment FATs, commissioning and start-up operations.
  • Project Execution: (i) coordinate engineering disciplines and engineering contractors and manage discipline interfaces; (ii) provide technical clarifications to resolve contractor and vendor RFIs; (iii) manage technical changes and expedite scheduled activities; (iv) assist the Project Manager with project definition.
  • Commissioning of Equipment: Support plant commissioning and startup efforts.
  • Other Support Functions:
  • Project Development Support: support the design of greenfield biogas facilities.
  • Operations Support: ensure smooth hand-off between project delivery and operations teams after commissioning.
  • Continuous Improvement: establish a formal continuous improvement process that captures post-project "lessons learned" to optimize future project performance.
