Senior Procurement Specialist – Industrial & Energy Components

About the Role:

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Procurement Specialist to be the first dedicated procurement hire on a fast-growing energy/industrial team. This is a high-impact role that will directly shape the supply chain strategy, sourcing critical industrial and energy components for innovative projects.


This role is extremely proactive, requiring daily cold calling and outreach to new suppliers, globally and domestically, to identify and onboard the best sources. You will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and finance teams to ensure timely delivery, quality, and cost-effective procurement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build procurement processes from scratch as the first procurement specialist on the team.
  • Proactively source and onboard new suppliers daily through cold calls, emails, and networking.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement for complex, high-value industrial, electrical, and mechanical components.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times, and service terms with suppliers, ensuring compliance and alignment with project goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Implement procurement tracking, ERP management, and reporting systems to monitor spend, supplier performance, and delivery timelines.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals, assess risk, and make recommendations for sourcing strategies.
  • Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships, ensuring reliability, quality, and cost efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • 5–10+ years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience, ideally in industrial, energy, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven experience in cold-calling and onboarding suppliers, both domestically and internationally.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial components, mechanical/electrical assemblies, or energy project materials.
  • Experience negotiating contracts, agreements, and purchase terms.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar), MS Office, and procurement reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, start-up environment, able to build processes from scratch.
