Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Software Engineer - DevSecOps to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The selected candidate will be working with the latest technology to modernize software production across multiple programs. This is a hybrid position located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.



Essential Functions:

  • Standup of large scale software factory used by software teams

  • Integrate and automate systems to facilitate continuous build, continuous integration, continuous test, and continuous deployment pipeline

  • Strong communication skills is a must to work with Software IPT, chief engineers, and development team

  • The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related software experience, or 6 years of experience with a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline or 4 years of experience with a PhD.

  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

  • Experience with concepts such as micro services *including scalability best practices), containers, and container orchestration using Docker or Kubernetes

  • Must have a keen understanding of the software development life cycle

  • Experience with software development (Java/Javascript, C++, C# or any modern object-oriented language) and its life cycle

  • Experience with build tools (i.e., Maven, Ant) and/or continuous integration environments (i.e., Jenkins,Bamboo)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Virtualization technology

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix/Windows Administration

  • Experience using the Agile methodology

  • Experience with the full Atlassian tool suite (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, Crucible, FishEye, Crowd)

  • Experience developing builds in Maven, including MAVEN profiles. Ability to automate software builds and releases via Maven & Nexus

  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Chef or an equivalent

  • Experience with developing formal builds within the DoD industry

  • Experience with VMware infrastructure and automation

  • Certification from VMWare and Cisco is desired

  • Experience using Azure, Amazon Web Services, including using AWS native services (Cloud Formation, S3, etc.) is a plus

  • SAP clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
