Senior Positive Employee Relations Manager

Chewy
Boston, MA

Job Description:

Our Opportunity:

The Senior Positive Employee Relations Manager is responsible for leading the execution and continuous improvement of Team Member (TM) relations and leadership development programs across Operations (Fulfillment Centers, Pharmacy, Chewy Vet Care), Corporate, and Customer Care. This role plays a critical part in identifying, assessing, and mitigating culture-related risks while fostering an environment where Chewy’s values are consistently lived and reinforced.

This leader partners closely with HR, Legal, and Operations to translate employee relations insights into practical, scalable solutions that strengthen engagement, reduce risk, and build leadership capability. Success in this role requires the ability to connect with individuals at all levels, influence without authority, and deliver candid, actionable feedback to leaders in a way that drives accountability while minimizing defensiveness.

The ideal candidate is a trusted partner who thrives in dynamic environments, is highly organized, and brings both strong judgment and a passion for developing leaders and teams.

What you'll do:

  • Execute and enhance positive Team Member relations programs, ensuring consistent delivery of training, tools, and resources that strengthen culture and leadership effectiveness.

  • Identify and mitigate culture risks by analyzing trends across multiple data sources (e.g., TM feedback, ethics hotline data, engagement surveys), surfacing insights, and driving proactive solutions with cross-functional partners.

  • Translate employee relations data into action, supporting root cause analysis and helping leaders understand and address underlying issues impacting team health and performance.

  • Partner closely with HR, Legal, and Operations leaders to deliver practical, field-ready guidance and training that promotes fair, consistent, and values-based decision-making.

  • Facilitate leadership training sessions for large and diverse groups, creating engaging, relevant experiences that resonate across varying audiences and leadership levels.

  • Build strong relationships across the organization, establishing credibility and trust with frontline leaders, site leadership, and corporate partners.

  • Provide direct, meaningful feedback to leaders in a way that reinforces expectations, strengthens leadership behaviors, and reduces defensiveness while driving accountability.

  • Support and coordinate program execution, including tracking milestones, ensuring deliverables are met, and addressing obstacles to maintain momentum.

  • Assess training needs and deliver targeted development, ensuring leaders are equipped to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.

  • Champion Chewy’s values by modeling expected behaviors and reinforcing a culture of respect, transparency, and continuous improvement.

  • Report to the Director, Positive Employee Relations

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or related field preferred.

  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in employee relations, HR, or related functions, including experience supporting large, diverse, and geographically dispersed teams.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering leadership training and facilitating sessions for large groups, with the ability to engage a wide range of personalities and leadership styles.

  • Strong ability to connect with and influence individuals at all levels, from frontline team members to senior leaders.

  • Proven capability to identify culture risks and translate data into actionable insights that improve team member experience and reduce organizational risk.

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and standard workplace investigation practices.

  • Experience using HR systems and case management tools (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow) to inform decisions and track trends.

  • Experience leading or mentoring others, with a focus on developing capability and driving consistent outcomes.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and deliver messages in a clear, direct, and constructive manner.

  • Strong judgment, problem-solving ability, and business acumen, with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, managing competing priorities, and adapting to change.

  • Demonstrated ability to live and reinforce organizational values, while holding leaders accountable in a way that builds trust rather than resistance.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

The base salary range for this role is $105,500 - $168,500.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
