We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance and human resources team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for employees across various departments. Your expertise will support compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations while maintaining precise financial records. The ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive understanding of payroll management systems, accounting principles, and HRIS platforms to facilitate seamless payroll operations and contribute to organizational efficiency. Duties

  • Manage and process payroll using advanced payroll software such as Workday, JDE, ADP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Reconcile payroll data with accounting systems including QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or Kronos to ensure consistency across financial records.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions, including debits and credits, for general ledger reconciliation.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and handle related data entry within HRIS platforms.
  • Ensure proper tax withholding, reporting, and remittance in accordance with governmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to perform account reconciliations related to payroll expenses and liabilities.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of payroll procedures and support internal audits or external regulatory reviews.
  • Assist with non-profit or governmental accounting requirements as they relate to payroll processing.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions when necessary to ensure comprehensive financial management.
  • Analyze payroll data for discrepancies or anomalies and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Contribute to process improvements by leveraging technical accounting skills and automation tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum of3 years of experience in payroll management within diverse organizational settings; experience with non-profit or governmental entities is a plus.
  • Proficiency in leading payroll software such as JDE, ADP.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations related to payroll processing.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems for benefits administration and employee data management.
  • Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail for data entry accuracy and error resolution.
  • Ability to perform complex account reconciliations and understand technical accounting procedures.
