We are actively seeking two experienced, dynamic, highly motivated team players to join us as a Senior Parks/Facilities Maintenance Worker with the Cabin John Maintenance Facility, located in Potomac, MD. The Southern Parks Division meets both local and regional leisure needs by providing opportunities for a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities in the most densely populated areas of Montgomery County. The division manages over 200 parks, including Urban, Local, and Regional Parks. Included in these parks are almost 200 employees and 100 pieces of equipment to accomplish the Department’s mission. Under the direction of a Parks/Facilities Maintenance Leader, this role performs skilled Senior Parks/Facilities maintenance work involving considerable responsibility, complexity, and variety. The successful candidate will support various park maintenance programs and perform a variety of general park maintenance tasks such as equipment operation, routine ground maintenance, playground repairs, trash removal, local athletic field renovation and maintenance, trail maintenance, tree planting, pruning, and aftercare by working with other team members. The ideal candidate should possess skills to operate non-CDL trucks, tractors with attachments, riding mowers, loaders, and forklifts and apply chemical pesticides. The position requires working days, nights, and weekends. Performs the full range of general and some skilled park and maintenance work in maintaining buildings, sites, trails and parks. Requires operating light automotive and motorized power equipment; using or operating a range of hand tools (e.g., hand saws, hammers, screwdrivers, clippers), power tools (e.g., drills, circular saws, power sanders), motorized or power equipment (e.g., riding mower or small tractor with attachments, power tiller) and occasionally larger power equipment for loading, unloading, and moving materials (e.g., small front-end loader or bobcat, small tree spade); operating light trucks with small trailers, cargo vans, and sedans and performing basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
