We are currently looking for a Senior Network Engineer. This person is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical corporate networks. Serves as a technical expert in the area of network administration. Recommends the redesign and configuration of networked systems and applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Is the primary party managing the networks. Works closely with other systems engineers, including security engineers.
Manufacturing lines often run 24x6 so Sundays are usually our best time for major network changes and occasional on-site work.
This is an initial 6-month contract-to-hire on W2, eligible for full benefits. 90% remote but must live within an hour and a half of Lagrange, GA. Required onsite at least once a month or more when needed for network support.
Responsibilities
- Manages the day-to-day network operations by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities.
- Performs troubleshooting as required. Problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
- Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical systems at 6 sites in the USA, 1 site in Canada, and 2 in Belgium and 3 in the UK.
- Develops and implements procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
- Needs to be very self-directed, communicate frequently, and to be productive without much supervision.
- Needs to be able to get along well with others.
- Come onsite 1 day a month plus as needed for network support (for example a Sunday afternoon when servicing network hardware). It is highly desired that this person be able to infrequently travel internationally, but is not required to.
Experience/Skills
- At least 5 years experience as a network administrator or equivalent
- Required: CCNP/CCNA
- Cisco routers and switches
- Meraki switches, firewalls and WAPs
- Ubiquiti switches, access hubs, and more
Strongly desired experience:
- SolarWinds Orion or at least NetFlow
