Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment (LNG Capital Projects)

A JAB Recruitment client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in rotating equipment and capital project execution. This role will serve as the mechanical discipline lead for a portfolio of capital improvement projects, supporting engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities within a complex industrial facility.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with rotating equipment, project engineering, Management of Change (MOC) processes, and cross-functional collaboration within LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, or other heavy industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
Capital Project Leadership
- Lead mechanical engineering activities for assigned capital projects from concept development through startup and closeout.
- Develop project scopes, design criteria, engineering deliverables, and execution strategies.
- Support project justification, Front-End Loading (FEL) studies, budgeting, and planning efforts.
- Participate in project stage-gate reviews and ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements.
Mechanical & Rotating Equipment Engineering
- Develop and review equipment specifications, datasheets, and technical documentation.
- Perform equipment selection studies and technical evaluations.
- Review and approve vendor drawings and equipment packages.
- Support the design, installation, commissioning, and startup of rotating equipment systems.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with procurement teams on equipment selection and purchasing activities.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations and vendor reviews.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
Project Execution & Field Support
- Provide field engineering support during construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, contractors, and vendors.
- Support troubleshooting, issue resolution, and field modifications.
- Assist during plant outages, turnarounds, tie-ins, and startup events as needed.
Process Safety & Compliance
- Execute and manage Management of Change (MOC) activities for assigned projects.
- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable industry codes, standards, and company requirements.
- Participate in HAZOPs, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and design reviews.
- Support safe and reliable startup and commissioning efforts.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting capital projects within LNG, natural gas, petrochemical, refining, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Familiarity with engineering standards, industry codes, and project execution methodologies.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Valid and current TWIC card.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience supporting LNG facilities.
- Background in commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities.
- Experience participating in HAZOPs and process safety reviews.
- Knowledge of project controls, cost estimating, and scheduling.
