  • Conceptualize, design, and prototype mechanical assemblies and integrated robotic systems, balancing functional requirements with performance and reliability.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturing efficiency, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure integrated and cohesive product development.
  • Drive design reviews, technical documentation, and rigorous validation processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a strong emphasis on robotics, machine design, and mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design and prototyping from concept through production.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship abilities within technical teams.
  • Experience designing novel mechanisms driven by electromechanical and fluid power actuators.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, automation systems, and machine design in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems for reliability, manufacturability, ease of use, and maintenance.

Technical Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of 3D CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) and mechanical simulation tools.
  • Expertise in mechanical design methodologies, including GD&T (ASME Y14.5), FEA, materials selection, and reliability engineering.
  • Proven experience in designing machined components, castings, injection-molded parts, sheet metal, and weldments.
  • Familiarity with system integration, motion axis sizing, and actuator selection.
  • Experience with drone technology is a significant plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.

AVF is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
