Senior Manufacturing Engineer / Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer

Location: On-site, 5 days/week


Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer / Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor. This person will analyze current manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, lead improvement projects, and support operational performance related to safety, quality, labor utilization, workflow, and productivity.


This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys being hands-on in a manufacturing environment, working directly with technicians and plant leadership, and mentoring junior engineers on a developing team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on manufacturing floor processes, efficiency, quality, safety, and labor utilization.
  • Conduct time studies, evaluate work standards, and identify opportunities to improve workflow and productivity.
  • Partner with EHS and operations teams on ergonomics, workspace layout, and safety-related improvements.
  • Engage directly with technicians, operators, engineers, and plant leadership to gather feedback and implement practical solutions.
  • Analyze production data, daily reporting, and monthly metrics to identify trends and drive operational improvements.
  • Support facility layout, workflow optimization, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead or support equipment specification, installation, commissioning, and qualification activities.
  • Teach, train, and apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma/DMAIC concepts.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help build continuous improvement capability within the team.
  • Manage projects from concept through execution, including tying improvement initiatives to business impact and P&L results.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering, process improvement, or continuous improvement experience; 8+ years preferred.
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing / Toyota Production System knowledge.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred; Black Belt highly desirable.
  • Experience in plastics or injection molding is preferred but not required.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and use reporting to drive improvements.
  • Experience with ERP and/or MES systems preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with both hourly production employees and leadership.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
