POSITION SUMMARY
Generation W Inc, is a nonprofit service organization focused on educating, inspiring, and connecting women and girls. It is dedicated to building community, bringing people together, and advancing and enhancing their lives. Generation W has developed and executes several programs: Generation W, Generation WOW and Generation WORKS and WOWsdom!
The Generation W Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications is responsible for creating and enhancing of the organization’s marketing and communications plan to advance Generation W’s brand identity, broaden awareness and visibility of our programs, and enable us to better tell our story. The Senior Manager will work with the executive leadership, staff, and board of directors to maintain a consistent media presence and by creating/supporting the creation of compelling, timely, and relevant content for distribution in a breadth of modalities.
We are seeking an outgoing, creative, goal-oriented, highly organized individual. The ideal candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, possess strong writing skills, and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment, allowing you to make a meaningful contribution to the Generation W organization as a whole.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive, integrated marketing and communications strategy that advances the organization’s mission, brand, and programmatic goals.
· Establish clear objectives, strategies, and detailed work plans for a wide range of marketing and communications initiatives, including CRM strategy, newsletters, annual impact report, fundraising campaigns, social media, and multi-channel marketing efforts.
· Develop and manage a dynamic, cross-platform content calendar that aligns messaging across all programs, events, and organizational priorities.
· Utilize data, research, and analytics to measure performance, generate insights, and continuously refine strategies to maximize reach, engagement, and impact.
· Partner closely with the fundraising team to design and execute innovative, results-driven campaigns that support revenue growth and donor engagement.
· Oversee the creation and execution of high-quality marketing collateral to support fundraising, brand awareness, communications, and public/corporate relations initiatives.
· Lead all media relations efforts, including proactive outreach, relationship building with press, and management of external PR agencies as needed.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with program staff and senior leadership to develop compelling content and storytelling across formats, including digital, video, social media, podcast/webcast, and print materials.
· Ensure the organization’s website remains current, engaging, and reflective of all programs, events, and brand messaging.
· Drive the strategy, growth, and engagement of social media platforms, including overseeing content development, campaign execution, and community building.
· Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of a Social Media Coordinator and a contract Graphic Designer, ensuring high-quality output, clear priorities, and alignment with brand standards.
· Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and strong return on investment.
· Oversee and manage external vendors, including negotiating contracts, setting expectations, and ensuring timely and on-budget delivery of services.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education/Career Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related communications field.
· Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience leading integrated marketing and communications strategies, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
· Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and developing staff, with the ability to lead both direct reports and external partners (e.g., contractors, agencies).
· Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with a proven ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences across multiple platforms and communities.
· Deep experience across traditional media and digital ecosystems, including media relations, social media strategy, and content development on platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
· Strong proficiency in marketing and analytics tools, including WordPress, Google Analytics, Canva, Donately, CRM systems, and email marketing platforms; ability to leverage technology to drive results and efficiency.
· Proven ability to develop and execute strategic marketing initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams, aligning communications efforts with organizational and fundraising goals.
· Demonstrated success overseeing the end-to-end production of high-quality communications assets, including newsletters, targeted email campaigns, press materials, fundraising collateral, reports, presentations, and multimedia content.
· Strong analytical mindset with experience measuring performance, interpreting data, and translating insights into actionable recommendations to improve communications effectiveness.
· Ability to monitor and report on trends, audience engagement, and public sentiment, particularly as they relate to community impact and organizational priorities, and to provide strategic communications guidance based on those insights.
