Senior Lab Technician

Qualification/Requirements:

  • AS/BS Degree in Computer Engineering/Technology or equivalent training and 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong background in computer hardware, software and PC architecture that can debug boards, has moderate soldering skills and setup of Testing environments.
  • Working knowledge of all Windows operating systems, with Linux experience a plus.


Key responsibilities:

  • Assemble and perform functional tests on newly designed and incoming boards, including but not limited to installing sockets, processors, heat sink, HDD and then perform boot tests to ensure functionality.
  • Coordinate shipping and inventory logistics globally, such as boards, hardware and ASICs, as directed by various teams to the various global Validation Teams.
  • Use protocol analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and other tools to isolate and debug device and hardware problems to resolve first level and simple board issues.
  • Works with ***'s Silicon Validation team to help set up various systems and infrastructure to support the bring-up of new and existing programs. Includes imaging HDDs with the latest Windows or Linux images and collecting HW or SW to assist the various teams or other lab duties as needed.
  • Perform or coordinate the implementation of Lab equipment Maintenance on Thermal heads, Chillers, Scope or Analyzer Calibration, and maintain the SCBU Margin Silicon environment
  • Perform or coordinate motherboard reworks and ASIC direct mount activity (in-house and external), which includes collecting and providing motherboards to the External teams, creating support tickets, communicating directions and schedules to both the external team and the requester, providing status updates and then distributing complete reworks back to the requester.
  • Execute pass/fail testing as bandwidth allows.


Preferred experience:

  • PC hardware and software troubleshooting skills and 2nd-level soldering skills.
  • A basic understanding of the motherboard's GDDR or LPDDR memory subsystem would be considered a plus.
  • Working knowledge/experience with the installation of Linux and Windows operating systems, including drivers and flashing BIOS.
  • Ability to use a multi-meter, oscilloscope or software to perform first-level board debug and repair.
  • Bus Signal Integrity Test experience on electronic components would be considered a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Thermal Heads, Chillers or Thermal Chambers is considered a big plus.
  • Working knowledge of Allegro, Agile, and inventory control systems is considered a big plus is a must.
