The Senior IT Engineer – is the advanced journey/lead level class in the IT Engineer Series. We are looking to hire someone with an analytical mind and a detailed understanding of cybersecurity methodologies. Must have meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, and work comfortably under pressure. Responsibilities include ensuring our software, hardware and overall computer systems are secured and protected from cyber-attacks. Candidates must display an excellent understanding of technology infrastructure using Firewalls, VPN, DLP, IDS/IPS, NDS, Web-Proxy, SIEM, CASB, MFA, AV/EDR and Security Audits.
The current vacancy is located in the Office of the District Attorney. However, eligible candidates are encouraged to apply as this list may also be used for vacancies in other County of San Diego departments.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures for the protection of the organization’s data systems, and networks.
- Troubleshooting security and network problems.
- Responding to all systems and/or network security breaches.
- Ensuring that the organization’s data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls.
- Testing and identifying network and system vulnerabilities.
- Preferable working knowledge of SIEM, MFA, CASB, NDS, AV/EDR.
- Solid interpersonal skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical personnel.

- Job Offer and Background Process begins shortly after the interviews conclude.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date

Minimum Qualification- An associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in computer science, information systems, or related field; AND,
- Five (5) years of recent professional experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting and implementing multi-level platform systems.
Notes:
- Recent work experience is defined as work experience within the past ten (10) years.
- Additional years of directly related verifiable experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. In addition, a bachelor's degree in the fields listed above may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Experience in selling, using, or operating a microcomputer or word processor is not qualifying.

The names of qualified candidates will be placed on a six (6) monthsemployment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
