The Senior Institutional Research Analyst reports to the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness and supports evidence-based decision making related to institutional research, accreditation, student success, strategic and grant funded initiatives and the College's equity-centered strategic plan. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (IE) seeks to recruit a new and senior team member to join and work with existing IE team members in service to the faculty, staff, students, and external agencies in support of data-informed institutional actions that improve the student experience and overall success, using quantitative and qualitative data. This position supervises, develops, implements, and maintains systems for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. Further, the incumbent produces reports for planning, assessment of outcomes, student success, enrollment management, and mission fulfilment trend analyses and gap identification.

The Senior Institutional Research Analyst (SIRA) develops systems to effectively and consistently examine and monitor trends and patterns, project design, implementation, and management, survey execution, and strategic and operational plan KPI monitoring and evaluation. The SIRA effectively responds to internal and external information requests, including providing mandated data to state and federal government, accreditation agencies, and others. The SIRA position supports mixed methods data processing and analyses to develop more comprehensive data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement cultures for enhanced institutional effectiveness across academic and non-academic functions at GRC.

  • Develop, design, implement, analyze, and communicate results of quantitative and qualitative research, assessment, and evaluation studies related to institutional research, program assessment, grant proposals, and state/federal compliance.
  • Produce dashboards, tables, graphs, and narrative analysis of data to easily display and summarize student characteristics, enrollment, retention, graduation, post-college employment, etc.
  • Build data structures involving internal and external data tables on internal servers to support data extraction and reporting by the IE team.
  • Respond effectively and timeously to ad-hoc data requests from administrators, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Manage growing data needs across campus, ensuring that external requests for disaggregated student data are handled in a way that protects student privacy.
  • Serve asliaisonand lead IE support for the data needs of assigned departments.
  • Support, alongside other IE staff, the data needs for nstitutional programa creditation.
  • Collaborate to guide data management for accreditation and federal reporting, ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with institutional standards.
  • Ensure accurate, on-time publishing of statistical data for a variety of publications and reports.
  • Extract data from various internal and external sources (e.g., data warehouse,SBCTC,ctcLink, student management system, IPEDS, Light cast, National Student Clearinghouse, etc.) for ad-hoc and standard data requests.
  • Administer surveys, analyze results, and report findings;assistin developing survey instrumentsand interview/focus group protocols.
  • Understand and apply legal and ethical components involved in conducting researchandanalysis (e.g., FERPA, human subjects' protection).
  • Serve asmemberon committees that require data or accountability/performance measures asdeterminedby the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all interactions.
  • Effectively navigate within Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing skills and the ability to independently produce data-informed reports for external and internal constituents.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social science/ education/ psychology /sociology/ statistics /mathematics /related fields OR Bachelor's degree with at least4 years of experience in higher education institutional effectiveness and research
  • Three (3) or more years of experience conducting higher education research or data analysis post-graduation
  • Experience with NWCCU or other accreditation agency’s standards, data collection, organization. and report writing.
  • Experience working with advanced data processing systems, Microsoft Excel workbooks, and word processing software.
  • Experience working with a data visualization/business intelligence tool (Tableau, Power Bl.)
  • Experience or qualifications in leadership or management areas
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to translate raw data into information and knowledge using data visualizations and reports.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to successfully participate andcollaborate with others and be responsive and respectful in working relationships.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree inappropriate field
  • Experience designing effective surveys and focus group requirements.
  • Experience analyzing qualitative data.
  • High level of self-motivation, ability to work independently, and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a collaborative setting.
  • Abilitytoeffectivelydealwithambiguityandchangingprojectrequirements.
  • Supervisory experience or strong demonstrable potential backed by educational qualifications,
