Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to join a highly collaborative Network/Server team supporting a complex hybrid environment of on-premises infrastructure and cloud services. This role is ideal for a well-rounded, mid-career engineer who brings strong networking and systems expertise, along with experience supporting telephony and legacy communication technologies. The ideal candidate is hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable balancing operational support with continuous improvement across a large-scale enterprise environment.
Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure with a strong emphasis on network architecture, connectivity, and performance across hybrid environments.
- Troubleshoot and maintain network and server systems, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, and secure remote access solutions.
- Support and administer telephony and communication platforms, including virtualized faxing solutions and related integrations.
- Manage and optimize virtualized environments, including Nutanix and VMware, supporting large-scale VM deployments.
- Maintain and enhance cloud-based infrastructure within Microsoft Azure, ensuring secure and efficient hybrid connectivity.
- Oversee infrastructure health across servers, storage, and networking, proactively identifying and resolving performance or reliability issues.
- Participate in hands-on data center and field support, including hardware provisioning, installations, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual workload.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement secure infrastructure solutions, including segmentation, firewall policies, and access controls.
- Support monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery efforts to ensure high availability of critical systems.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation for infrastructure, processes, and configurations in alignment with compliance standards.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance activities to support business-critical systems.
Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer Qualifications
- 6–8+ years of experience in infrastructure, network engineering, or cloud-focused roles within a mid-to-large enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, and enterprise connectivity.
- Demonstrated experience supporting telephony systems and/or virtualized faxing solutions within enterprise environments.
- Experience working in hybrid infrastructure environments, including both on-premises systems and Microsoft Azure.
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms such as Nutanix and/or VMware in large-scale deployments.
- Experience with enterprise network hardware and security platforms (e.g., Juniper, Palo Alto, or similar technologies).
- Familiarity with data center operations and physical infrastructure support, including hardware installation and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting Windows server environments and core infrastructure services such as Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Scripting or automation experience using tools such as PowerShell or Python.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to navigate complex, interconnected systems.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to operate as a well-rounded generalist, bridging gaps across networking, systems, and communication technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and occasional local travel (approximately 5–10%).
Salary: $100K-$125K/year. (DOE)
