The organization develops launch vehicle systems and spacecraft propulsion technologies designed to support next-generation satellite missions.The OpportunityOur client is seeking a Senior Harness Engineer to join the Avionics team and lead the design and development of wiring harness systems for a launch vehicle platform. This role owns the harness architecture across development, testing, and production for both test and flight systems.The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and integrate advanced harness systems supporting the vehicle from early design through system integration and flight readiness.Key Responsibilities
Serve as the Harness Responsible Engineer for a launch vehicle program
Own harness architecture and system-level wiring design
Work cross-functionally with Mechanical, Thermal, and Electrical teams to define harness requirements
Select connectors, materials, and components for aerospace environments
Design harness routing, mechanical layout, and EMI mitigation strategies
Create and maintain system-level wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
Draft and review manufacturing and assembly drawings
Support first article assembly, production, and flight harness development
Perform electrical testing including pin-to-pin isolation, grounding, and continuity checks
Troubleshoot development and production issues and implement corrective actions
Support system integration in a hands-on design, production, and testing environment
CompensationSalary range: $131,750 - $162,350
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
5+ years of professional experience in harness design
3+ years of experience with mechanical design / CAD tools and PLM software
Ability to interpret and create complex electrical wiring diagrams
Strong understanding of wire harness design and manufacturing processes
Experience with component material selection for aerospace applications
Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting complex wiring systems
Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Experience documenting and maintaining:
Testing procedures
Test and analysis results
FMEAs
Requirement documentation
Work instructions
Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as:

NASA-STD-8739.4 and 8739.6

Ability to design hardware with weight, cost, and manufacturability considerations
