Senior Graphic Designer, Packaging & Labeling
Location: Saddle Brook, NJ (On-site) · Type: Full-Time, Salaried · Department: Creative
About Chefler Foods
Chefler Foods is a fast-growing foodservice manufacturer serving restaurants, distributors, retailers, stadiums, venues, and operators nationwide. Our work spans a wide range of foodservice products and packaging formats, from everyday back-of-house essentials to consumer-facing branded products. We're also the parent company of Mike's Amazing, one of the fastest-growing condiment brands in the country.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to own product labeling and packaging across the Chefler Foods and Mike's Amazing catalogs. This is a high-volume, high-accuracy role: hundreds of active labels and packaging files across dozens of products, each with its own specs, regulatory requirements, and vendor details.
This is a senior role because of the judgment, discipline, and ownership it demands. You'll be the person the team trusts to get it right.
What You'll Do
- Own, create, update, and organize product labels and packaging artwork across the full Chefler Foods and Mike's Amazing catalogs — a large and constantly changing library of SKUs.
- Develop production-ready artwork for primary packaging — bottles, jars, containers, pouches, tubs, and other unit-level formats.
- Develop production-ready artwork for secondary packaging — cases, cartons, boxes, shippers, trays, and outer packaging.
- Work with dielines, packaging specs, barcode placement, nutrition panels, ingredient and allergen statements, and net weight callouts — verifying accuracy at every step.
- Ensure every file is print-ready and aligned with brand, product, regulatory, and vendor requirements before it leaves your hands.
- Manage label and packaging projects through the full pipeline — initial design, revisions, approvals, and final production files.
- Prepare and release final files to printers, vendors, and manufacturing partners, and review proofs and samples for color, layout, and technical accuracy.
- Build and maintain a clean system of files, templates, brand assets, version history, and archives the whole team can rely on.
- Set the standard for production quality and file discipline, and mentor junior designers on how to meet it.
Must-Haves
- 5+ years of professional graphic design experience, with substantial packaging or labeling work in your portfolio.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat.
- Deep command of packaging production: dielines, printer specs, color management, file prep, proofing, and vendor handoff.
- A proven track record managing a high volume of files, revisions, and deadlines without errors.
- Relentless attention to detail and strong organizational systems — you catch what others miss.
- A strong eye for typography, layout, hierarchy, and brand consistency.
Bonus Points
- Experience in foodservice, CPG, food and beverage, private label, or retail.
- Familiarity with regulatory packaging requirements (nutrition panels, allergen and ingredient statements, claims).
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
- Adobe After Effects or other motion/video skills.
