About the Role


The Senior Fund Accountant is responsible for accounting and financial reporting for assigned hedge funds and managed accounts. This role works closely with the Fund Controller and the Assistant Fund Controller and serves as a key point of contact with third‑party administrators, auditors, and internal investment and operations teams. The position requires strong fund accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex reconciliations and reporting processes.


Responsibilities


  • Maintain internal accounting records for assigned hedge funds and managed accounts which include reviewing work of more junior accountants and/or the outsourced offshore team
  • Perform and review daily reconciliations between the internal trading system and the portfolio accounting system (Advent Geneva), investigating and resolving variances
  • Review NAV packages prepared by independent third‑party administrators and communicate issues internally and externally
  • Analyze P&L, balance sheet activity, and key NAV drivers to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate with internal teams, administrators, and auditors to address accounting, valuation, and reporting matters
  • Understand valuation inputs and pricing sources for various instruments, including derivatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting, reconciliation, and reporting processes and assist with implementing enhancements
  • Support management initiatives and assist in training and mentoring junior accounting staff
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests, analysis, and special projects as required


Qualifications & Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong related experience in fund accounting, public accounting, or alternatives accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of Advent Geneva
  • Proficient Excel skills
  • Experience working with hedge fund structures and third‑party administrators
  • Excellent attention to detail, and strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Skills


  • Experience with reporting tools; ability to write commands for SQL, Power BI is preferred
  • Understanding of hedge fund structures and NAV mechanics
  • Experience with a broad range of exchange traded, fixed income and derivative products
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
