Senior Forensic Mechanical Engineer

A confidential consulting firm is seeking a Senior Forensic Mechanical Engineer to lead a range of building-systems investigations and refurbishment projects, taking responsibility for both the technical work and the management of project obligations. This role suits someone with a broad grounding in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, together with fire protection, alarms, controls and the investigative demands of forensic engineering.


The team is looking for someone who brings energy, independence and strong organisational ability, and who works well in a collaborative environment. The work involves supporting clients on complex assignments across the country and occasionally overseas. A strong technical mindset, a proactive approach and confidence when dealing with client requirements are all vital.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site assessments of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Diagnose failure mechanisms and system performance issues
  • Produce written findings, technical opinions, and repair recommendations
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables
  • Oversee small to mid-sized assignments independently with limited oversight
  • Support client relationships and repeat work opportunities


Qualifications

  • PE license required (or ability to obtain via reciprocity)
  • 7+ years of MEP engineering experience
  • Design domain knowledge
  • Experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics, system evaluations, or claims-related work
  • Strong analytical and report-writing ability
  • Comfortable working independently in the field as well as in a consulting setting
  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred
