MAU is hiring a Sr. Field Service Technician for our client in Mankato, MN. As a Sr. Field Service Commissioning Technician, you will perform commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power generation systems, including gaseous engine systems, while leading field service activities and supporting customer operations. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Required Education and Experience
• 2 years of mechanical or technical trade school and:
• Alternatively, 7–9 years of field service, mechanical, or electrical troubleshooting experience without a degree (including gaseous powered systems experience)
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 60%–100%)
• Ability to lift, push, and pull 20–60 lbs

Preferred Education and Experience
• Technical school or undergraduate degree in Automotive or Electrical Systems/Engineering
• Experience with engines and electronics
• Experience in gaseous engine service industry and testing of gaseous engine components
• Project leadership or commissioning experience with paralleling systems (5+ years)
• Bilingual in Spanish
• Completion of training courses (ECU7, ECU8, ECU9; 2000 series, 4000 series; medium voltage safety training)
General Requirements
• Expert knowledge of single-phase and three-phase AC power generation systems
• Strong knowledge of electronics, blueprints, and electrical schematics
• Knowledge of low to high voltage systems (120V–15KV)
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and electronic control systems
• Knowledge of internal combustion engines, fuels, lubricants, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Knowledge of gaseous-powered systems and related components
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, testing instruments, and precision measurement equipment
• Strong ability to use mechanical and electrical hand tools
• Proficiency with PC, MS Office Suite, and diagnostic/business software
• Strong communication, report writing, and teamwork skills
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage timelines and multiple priorities
• Ability to adapt to changing work environments and assignments
• Ability to work in confined spaces and various physical positions for extended periods
• Ability to rig and handle heavy equipment (up to 1 ton preferred experience)
Essential Functions
• Diagnose, service, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul engines, generator sets, and associated mechanical and electronic systems
• Perform commissioning, start-ups, and operation of power generation and genset systems
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on generators, including transfer switches, diesel, and gaseous engines
• Diagnose and repair generator set systems and ancillary components in field environments
• Perform complex commissioning and start-ups for power generation and gaseous systems
• Schedule work and estimate completion timeframes for gas, electrical, and commissioning activities
• Review commissioning requirements and complete installations according to customer specifications
• Instrument genset systems, record test data, and analyze technical performance data
• Inspect parts for conformance to specifications and perform failure analysis with reporting
• Maintain engine, system, and equipment logbooks and detailed daily activity records
• Identify and procure required parts, tools, and local vendor support for field service execution
• Coordinate with manufacturers, trades, product groups, and internal teams for project completion and product improvements
• Work with other manufacturers and trades to complete projects
• Provide input for updates to service manuals, bulletins, and product design improvements
• Instruct customers on safe operation, shutdown procedures, and troubleshooting of systems
• Provide technical assistance and mentorship to other service personnel
• Lead on-site work activities, organize resources, and prioritize project timelines
• Act as project lead when required, directing personnel and coordinating resources
• Utilize diagnostic software, networking tools, and Windows-based programs (Excel, Word, email)
• Maintain project documentation and communication using business systems
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and promote safe work practices
• Promote a compliance culture aligned with company code of conduct
• Perform field inspections, technical reporting, and continuous improvement activities
• Perform special projects as required
Working Conditions
• Field-based role with extensive travel (domestic and international)
• Work performed in customer sites, industrial environments, and outdoor conditions
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and environmental conditions depending on assignment
