Senior Environmental Planner

SUMMARY

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager to support a broad range of environmental consulting and permitting initiatives across infrastructure, development, and capital improvement projects. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to lead complex environmental reviews, manage multidisciplinary projects, and collaborate directly with regulatory agencies and clients in a fast-paced consulting environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and project execution while mentoring teams and driving successful project delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead environmental planning and permitting projects from initiation through completion while ensuring schedules and budgets are maintained.
• Prepare and review environmental reports, regulatory applications, feasibility studies, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate directly with agencies and stakeholders regarding permitting, compliance, and environmental review requirements.
• Manage project finances, invoicing, schedules, subcontractors, and internal support teams.
• Interpret environmental regulations and apply them to infrastructure, development, and construction-related projects.
• Conduct or oversee environmental assessments and due diligence activities.
• Participate in business development efforts including proposal preparation and client relationship management.
• Facilitate agency coordination meetings and provide technical guidance to clients and project teams.
• Review engineering and construction plans for environmental compliance considerations.
• Support field activities such as wetlands evaluations, habitat assessments, and environmental oversight activities when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Biology, Urban Planning, Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of environmental consulting, permitting, or environmental planning experience.
• Strong working knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory programs related to wetlands, flood hazard areas, coastal zones, and land use.
• Experience preparing environmental review documentation and regulatory permit applications.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental review processes for capital or infrastructure projects.
• Excellent written communication, analytical, and organizational abilities.
• Proven experience managing projects, client expectations, budgets, and schedules.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with wetlands delineation, threatened and endangered species assessments, or environmental field investigations is preferred.
• Comfortable with a flexible hybrid work arrangement that includes office collaboration, meetings, and occasional site visits.
