EDGE Engineering and Science is seeking a motivated Senior Environmental Consultant to join our Environmental Compliance and Liability Management (CLM) team at our Houston, Texas office.

In this role, you will support clients in the Chemical, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, and Manufacturing industries. This position serves as a central component of our CLM practice and offers a dynamic mix of office and fieldwork, ideal for a detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated individual.


Responsibilities and Impact

The successful candidate will lead environmental compliance audits and assessments, transforming complex regulatory requirements into actionable compliance strategies for our diverse client base.

  • Compliance Oversight: Oversee the entire scope of environmental compliance for our clients, performing rigorous audits and assessments to identify potential liabilities and gaps. Develop and implement robust corrective action plans and long-term compliance strategies tailored to each client’s operational profile.
  • Business Development: Proactively lead initiatives to expand our client base while nurturing existing relationships. You will play a vital role in targeting public-sector and industrial entities, using your expertise to write and manage winning proposals.
  • Technical and Administrative Leadership: Provide technical and administrative support, including regulatory research, data collection, data analysis, and the preparation and review of technical documents. Ensure adherence to quality standards, budgetary constraints, project schedules, and scope-specific assignments.
  • Team Development: Lead, train, and mentor junior staff members, fostering professional growth within the firm.


Technical Qualifications

We require a deep, hands-on understanding of federal and state environmental regulatory frameworks. Candidates must demonstrate expert-level knowledge of the following programs and statutes, along with their complementary state programs:

  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
  • Clean Water Act (CWA)
  • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
  • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA)
  • Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
  • Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA)
  • Safe Drinking Water Act (SWDA)
  • Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS)


Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering (chemical, civil, or environmental), or a related scientific discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental project management, with specific expertise in multimedia compliance consulting.
  • A proven track record of securing business and a strong drive to expand our client base.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in environmental reporting, auditing, and the preparation of regulatory reports, plans, and programs.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across dynamic teams.
  • Ability to efficiently engage on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Willingness to travel overnight, both in-state and out-of-state.
