Senior Environment Health Safety Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced EHS Engineer IV to serve as a senior technical leader in environmental, health, and safety for a large, complex manufacturing facility. This role independently leads the identification, analysis, and control of occupational hazards while driving compliance, safety excellence, and continuous improvement across operations.

The ideal candidate is a recognized EHS expert with deep experience in heavy manufacturing, capable of leading complex, multi‐disciplinary projects and advising leadership on risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and safety strategy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and control of occupational safety and health hazards across manufacturing operations
  • Advise on structural and equipment safety requirements using failure mode and risk analysis methodologies
  • Design, specify, and implement protective equipment, engineering controls, and safety devices
  • Develop, review, and implement occupational safety policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Lead Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives related to mergers, acquisitions, and integration activities
  • Manage large, complex, multi‐disciplinary EHS projects, including scope definition, team leadership, budgeting, and delivery
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, internal policies, and industrial best practices
  • Lead internal EHS audits and oversee the installation and validation of safety systems and controls
  • Investigate industrial accidents and incidents; determine root causes and implement preventative and corrective actions
  • Review plans and specifications for new or modified machinery, equipment, and facilities to ensure safety compliance
  • Prepare, present, and review findings from inspections, audits, and investigations with leadership
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs; assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain and oversee contractor safety and construction management programs


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in an EHS or safety‐related discipline, preferably within heavy manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Demonstrated success leading large, complex, multi‐disciplinary EHS projects from planning through execution
  • Recognized subject‐matter expert in occupational safety and health practices
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industrial safety standards


Preferred Qualifications

  • CSP, CIH, or other professional safety certifications
  • Master’s degree or graduate‐level education in a related field
  • Experience supporting capital projects, new equipment installations, or facility expansions
