We are seeking an experienced Project Manager III to lead complex technical programs and cross-functional engineering initiatives for a leading manufacturing and technology environment in Fairport, NY. This role requires a strong leader with proven experience managing technical teams, driving project execution, coordinating with customers, and ensuring successful delivery of engineering programs from concept through manufacturing transfer.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within engineering, optics, manufacturing, or technical product development environments and possess strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical programs from initiation through execution and delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and technology groups.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, risks, resources, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Utilize project management tools such as MS Project for planning and execution.
  • Facilitate technical problem-solving and strategic decision-making.
  • Communicate program direction, milestones, and risks to stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Support product and process transfer from development to manufacturing environments.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external customers.
  • Ensure adherence to process controls, quality standards, and project governance.
  • Travel domestically up to 10% based on project requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Optical, Mechanical, or related field preferred) OR Associate Degree with significant relevant experience.
  • 5–7+ years of experience managing technical or engineering programs.
  • Strong project leadership and cross-functional team management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, resources, and risks.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Fairport, NY.
  • Must be ITAR compliant (US Citizen or US National).

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Degree in Optics or related field.
  • Experience in optics, manufacturing, or research & development environments.
  • Knowledge of SAP or manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with Stage 3–5 product transfer to manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with innovation or product development processes.
