We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Design Engineer – OLE to provide technical leadership, design assurance, and delivery oversight for Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) systems on Swedish Rail infrastructure projects. This role represents the highest level of technical authority within the OLE discipline, responsible for setting design direction, assuring compliance with Swedish and European standards, mentoring teams, and acting as a key technical interface with clients and stakeholders.
Technical Leadership & Authority
• Act as Principal Engineer / Technical Authority for OLE on Swedish Rail projects
• Define OLE system philosophies, design criteria, and technical strategies
• Provide technical assurance and sign‑off of OLE designs and calculations
• Lead resolution of complex technical issues, non‑conformances, and design risks
• Ensure compliance with Trafikverket, EN, IEC, and applicable European standards.
Design & Delivery
• Design and Oversee delivery of OLE designs across all project stages:
o Feasibility & optioneering
o Concept and detailed design
o IFC / construction support
• Design, Review and approve:
o OLE layout plans, cross‑sections, and sectioning diagrams
o Wire run, dropper, and conductor allocation schedules
o Mast, portal, and foundation arrangements
o Clearance, EMC, and electrical safety studies
o Loading calculations and formal design reports (Form A / Form B)
• Ensure effective integration with Track, Signalling, Telecom, Civil, and Structures.
Client, Project & Stakeholder Interface
o Act as key technical point of contact with Swedish clients and partners
o Support bid development, technical proposals, and design methodologies
o Participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and assurance meetings
o Provide expert input during audits, independent checks, and client reviews.
People Leadership & Capability Building
o Mentor, coach, and technically develop senior and junior OLE engineers
o Define discipline best practices, standard details, templates, and workflows
o Support capability development within the Global Delivery Centre (GDC/GCC)
o Promote a strong culture of quality, safety, and engineering excellence.
Quality, Safety & Governance
o Ensure OLE designs follow safe‑by‑design principles
o Uphold WSP Quality, HSE, and Engineering Governance frameworks
o Support continuous improvement, lessons learned, and technical innovation.
