Senior Embedded Systems & control Engineer

Title: Senior Embedded Systems & Controls Software Engineer (Band 6)

Position Summary

We are seeking a high-caliber technical leader to architect the "brain" of safety-critical aerospace systems. This role is for a versatile engineer who thrives at the intersection of autonomous logic, deterministic execution, and hardware integration. Unlike a motor control specialist, you will own the supervisory layers—the complex state machines and sequencing that ensure the entire vehicle behaves predictably during power-up, mission execution, and fault recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mission & Supervisory Logic: Architect system-level control architecture, focusing on operational state management and multi-subsystem coordination.
  • Deterministic Frameworks: Develop scalable embedded C/C++ frameworks on safety-oriented MCUs (e.g., TI C2000, NXP) with a focus on loop determinism and system robustness.
  • Safety-Critical Sequencing: Design safe power-up/down sequences, fault-response logic, and degraded operating modes aligned with DO-178C or ARP4754 standards.
  • Interface Architecture: Author and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for CAN (safety-oriented profiles), ARINC 825, and Ethernet-based aerospace buses.
  • Model-Based Validation: Lead the validation of system-level logic using MATLAB/Simulink through the full MIL/SIL/HIL lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Lead: Lead hardware bring-up and lab validation, diagnosing complex issues that span the boundary between software, hardware, and system interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years developing embedded control software for complex real-time systems (e.g., Autonomous Vehicles or Robotics).
  • Software Mastery: Deep proficiency in Embedded C/C++ and real-time software architecture.
  • System Design: Proven experience designing complex State Machines, mode management, and sequencing logic.
  • Protocol Expertise: Hands-on experience with CAN (and derivatives), SPI, Ethernet, or ARINC.
  • Tooling: Advanced proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design and HIL/SIL testing.
  • Seniority: Demonstrated ability to lead technical integration and debug across hardware, firmware, and system boundaries.

Preferred "Elite" Skills

  • Specialized Systems: Exposure to Battery Management Systems (BMS), power electronics, or vehicle-level autonomous navigation.
  • Safety MCUs: Experience bringing up and optimizing safety-oriented microcontrollers.
  • Diagnostic Frameworks: Experience building advanced health-monitoring and diagnostic frameworks for complex machinery.

Why This Role?

  • Culture: Join a "builder-first" environment moving faster than industry standards.
  • Lifestyle: Professional 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule with elite talent from across the industry.
  • Reward: Competitive salary ($150k–$175k base), equity participation, and full benefits.
