Since 1971 NSSI/Recovery Services, Inc. has been an industry leader in the management and treatment of hazardous waste, radioactive materials, and mixed waste for organizations of all sizes in the commercial, government, and academic sectors. NSSI is a fully permitted RCRA Part B hazardous waste TSDF and is one of only three facilities in the United States providing storage, handling, and treatment of mixed hazardous and radioactive wastes.


The Senior Disposal Chemist is responsible for tasks that involve experience, judgement, and independent decision-making. The Senior Disposal Chemist will be responsible for the supervision of de-packing, re-packing, and bulking of chemical wastes in accordance with DOT and EPA (RCRA) regulations. Duties include but are not limited to:

· Supervise neutralization of reactive wastes and other permitted treatments,

· Determine consolidation and/or treatment method for accepted chemical wastes,

· Develop new methodology for waste handling,

· Collect chemical samples and send them for analysis,

· Review customer request for all inbound chemical waste, lab packs, and bulk hazardous material,

· Evaluate customer profiles for compatibility and ensure compliance with EPA (RCRA) regulations,

· Display consistent attention to detail in accordance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including but not limited to DOT, EPA, RCRA, OSHA, TAC, NRC, FMCSA, DSHS and TCEQ.

· Assist operations and sales in hazardous waste profile data entry

· Enforce and follow PPE requirements, Health and Safety policies and procedures, and OSHA safety regulations,

· Characterize and classify waste materials in accordance with established protocols

· Visit customer sites to supervise Lab Packing operations,

· Adhere to all Operation and Supervisor policies and procedures,

· Develop and implement SOPs alongside Operations Manager,

· Perform other related duties as required or requested,

· Monitor waste inventory and maintain TSDF <365 Day requirement,

· Train staff on proper waste handling procedures and promote safe industry practices,

· Interface with customers and auditors while demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of industry standards,

· Supervising and training your direct reports i.e. Profiler, CSR,

· Generating accurate and timely quotes for prospective and existing clients

· Complete other projects as assigned.

Salary Range:
