What will you do?
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Senior Director of Transformation to lead enterprise-wide change management and program execution at Advance Auto Parts. This high-impact role will oversee the Change Management Office (OCM) and Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring critical initiatives are prioritized, aligned, and executed effectively. Reporting to senior leadership, the Senior Director will drive cross-functional alignment, translate strategic priorities into measurable business outcomes, and foster a culture of agility and accountability.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with expertise in managing organizational complexity, enterprise prioritization, and delivering results to senior executives. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, operational discipline, and the ability to influence across teams and functions.
LOCATION AND WORK AVAILABILITY
This position isHybrid (4days in office,1day remote),based at our corporate headquarters inRaleigh, North Carolina.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Transformation Strategy & Execution
Define and govern the organization’s multi-year transformation roadmap aligned with strategic goals.
Lead end-to-end delivery of cross-functional transformation initiatives, ensuring value realization.
Collaborate with technology leaders to drive enterprise digital transformation.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve profitability, customer experience, and operational effectiveness.
Enterprise Program & Portfolio Management
Build and manage an integrated portfolio of transformation initiatives, balancing short-term wins with long-term strategic investments.
Lead and oversee the Project Management Office (PMO) team, ensuring project management practices, tools, and methodologies are standardized and aligned to enterprise priorities.
Establish success metrics, track ROI, and ensure initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes.
Identify risks, interdependencies, and resource constraints, and develop mitigation strategies to keep initiatives on track.
Ensure the PMO supports cross-functional teams in delivering on time, within scope, and aligned to strategic objectives.
Change Leadership & Adoption
Lead enterprise Change Management to ensure adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.
Influence leaders at all levels to reinforce transformation outcomes and embed continuous improvement.
Build enterprise change capabilities that drive adoption, strengthen organizational resilience, enable teams to execute through ongoing change and uncertainty, and embed a mindset of continuous improvement and accountability across the organization
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a trusted partner to business and functional leaders, aligning transformation initiatives to functional goals and resolving any misalignments and resource bottlenecks to ensure seamless execution
Facilitate decision-making and alignment across senior stakeholders with competing priorities
Break down silos and foster collaboration and transparency across stores, corporate functions and digital teams enabling stronger execution and delivery with shared accountability
Capability Building & Operating Model Evolution
Evolve the organization’s operating model to support growth, scalability, and omnichannel execution.
Build internal capabilities to sustain transformation efforts and maintain momentum beyond individual initiatives.
Establish and run a consistent enterprise operating cadence for planning, delivery, reviews, and reporting to ensure aligned execution and timely, informed decisions

QUALIFICATIONS
Enterprise Transformation & Execution Leadership: Proven experience leading large, cross‑functional initiatives in complex, ambiguous environments, with accountability for results
Portfolio, Operating Discipline & Governance: Strong track record managing enterprise initiative portfolios, setting priorities, establishing governance and operating cadence, and driving value delivery
Change Leadership & Adoption: Deep understanding of change management with demonstrated success driving adoption and sustained behavioral change at scale
Executive & Cross‑Functional Influence: Ability to partner with and influence senior leaders across functions without direct authority
Metrics, Financial Acumen & Business Insight: Strong analytical skills with experience defining success metrics, tracking ROI, and tying initiatives to measurable business outcomes
Clear Executive Communication: Ability to distill complex information into concise, decision‑ready insights for senior leadership
Industry Context: Experience in retail, distribution, or consumer‑focused organizations preferred
CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Strategy, or a related field is required. An advanced degree such as an MBA, Project Management, Change Management, or a relevant graduate degree is strongly preferred
Experience:10+ years of experience in enterprise transformation, program management, change management, or related roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity. Project Management or Change Management certification (PMP, CCMP, Prosci) is a plus
