Arlington County's Department of Technology Services is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join the Information Security Team of the Security, Privacy and Records Division. This position is responsible for providing advanced technical support to network operations, implementing IT security updates, and contributing to security policy recommendations.

Specific duties include:

  • Serving as subject matter expert and team lead for architecting and operating network firewalls, network access control (NAC) systems, and load balancers;
  • Designing, configuring, and operating the security components of additional network and security devices including: virtual private network (VPN) appliances, security and event (SIEM) systems, cloud security applications, and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS);

     

  • Responding to network security alerts and coordinating responses to incidents;
  • Providing tier 3/tier 4 technical support to resolve escalated cybersecurity issues;
  • Conducting network forensics, investigating intrusions, and leading recovery activities; and
  • Leading the development and implementation of necessary controls and procedures to protect information and technology assets, as well as developing and updating technical documentation, including network diagrams and security assessments.
