Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and application of low- and medium-voltage switchgear systems (480V to 38kV)
- Develop and review one-line diagrams, system architectures, and equipment layouts
- Define and validate bus configurations, breaker coordination, and transfer schemes
- Configure and validate protective relay logic and ensure system functionality
- Support development of control systems, including PLC-based transfer logic
- Review and approve electrical and mechanical designs for switchgear lineups
- Serve as technical lead during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Lead or support commissioning activities, including system validation and troubleshooting
- Review client specifications and ensure compliance with engineering standards and design intent
- Provide technical guidance to manufacturing, field service, and project teams
- Act as subject matter expert on switchgear performance, reliability, and failure modes
- Contribute to development of internal standards, engineering guidelines, and best practices
- Participate in client-facing discussions, design reviews, and technical presentations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in switchgear design, application engineering, or commissioning
- Strong background in industrial power distribution, mission-critical systems, or data center environments
- Proven experience handling complex switchgear systems, transfer schemes, and high-reliability applications
- Experience supporting projects across design, manufacturing, testing, and field commissioning phases
Must-Have Skills:
- Deep expertise in low- and medium-voltage switchgear systems and architectures
- Strong understanding of bus bar systems, breaker coordination, and protection schemes
- Experience with PLC-controlled transfer schemes and system automation
- Knowledge of protective relay systems and short-circuit coordination studies
- Ability to develop and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and electrical layouts
- Strong troubleshooting skills in real-world power systems
- Proven ability to lead technical decisions and manage complex engineering challenges
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple high-priority projects
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with data center power systems and redundant architectures
- Familiarity with protection relays, power meters, and monitoring systems
- Experience with commissioning methodologies, power quality analysis, and infrared inspections
- Exposure to PLC and SCADA systems
- Knowledge of industry standards such as NEC, IEEE, and UL compliance requirements
- Previous experience leading teams or mentoring engineers
- Experience working in high-availability or mission-critical environments
