As we continue to scale, we are seeking a Senior Controller to strengthen our financial operations and provide strategic leadership across all accounting functions.
Role Summary
The Senior Controller will be joining a 6 person team, and will be fully involved in all accounting functions. They will also serve as a key financial leader within House of Léon, overseeing all aspects of accounting management, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in e-commerce finance, international inventory importing, and proficiency with NetSuite and Shopify platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor the company's financial reports and determine actionable ways to reduce costs and improve financial efficiency.
• Handle all aspects of accounting management, including billing, tax forms, regulatory reporting, and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to ensure compliance with established best practices.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements, including GAAP standards.
• Oversee and manage the accounting for international inventory imports into the U.S., including duties, customs compliance, and landed cost calculations.
• Partner closely with operations, logistics, and e-commerce teams to ensure accurate financial data flows between Shopify, NetSuite, and other business systems.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
Requirements
Experience & Technical Skills
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP, including financial modules, reporting, and system administration.
• 2+ years of experience working with Shopify, including integration with accounting and inventory systems.
• Proven experience in e-commerce retail with a focus on businesses that import inventory internationally into the United States.
• Strong understanding of customs regulations, import duties, tariffs, and landed cost accounting.
• Expertise in preparing financial statements in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing internal controls and financial policies.
Education & Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA designation strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or managerial role.
• Experience in e-commerce, retail, or consumer goods industries is highly desirable.
