Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Adult Mental Health Outpatient team is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Clinician to join our team. We are a dedicated group of licensed professionals providing mental health counseling to adults 18 years of age and older. Team members apply individualized therapeutic approaches to a wide variety of mental health issues and challenges faced by Chesterfield County residents. While we offer telehealth services, this position does not currently include the option for a remote work schedule.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in human services or related field; three years of experience related to assigned program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Computer proficiency skills; working knowledge of electronic health record systems. Demonstrated ability to lead others. Ability to provide focused counseling services preferred; skilled in the use of evidence-based treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) preferred.
Additional Requirements:
• Must hold an active professional license in the State of Virginia (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) or be fully licensed within 6 months of hire.
• Verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English required.
