Senior BIM Technician

In our expanding Urban Adaptations team, an opportunity exists for a talented Engineer to assist in the development, design and delivery of a range of transport schemes including walking and cycling, road safety, highway, traffic signal, ITS and parking. Projects range from from scheme development to design and implementation. 

We require an individual with experience in some or all of the following areas to fulfil our expanding portfolio of work from public and private sector organisations: 

• Highway/Transport infrastructure design-Low/medium cost highway design schemes – small build outs/footway widening up to provision of dual carriageway widening and roundabout signalisation, 2d and 3d work.
• Project Management
• Traffic Signal and ITS design and implementation including TR2500s, Bus Priority, MOVA, SCOOT etc.
• Traffic Management
• Traffic Regulation Orders
• Sign Design
• Technical Assessment/Assurance of scheme proposals 
• Traffic Engineering feasibility studies typically include public realm enhancements, safety studies, cycle design, traffic calming, parking, NMU improvements, operational modelling
• Parking studies/strategies

Responsible for basic CAD and related drafting tasks on BIM 360 and as directed by the Engineer

• Responsible for all drafting for a discipline for multidisciplinary team as required 

• Completion of CAD tasks received from Engineers and CAD Coordinator

• Generate sections / schedules / schematics drawings from general arrangement drawings 

• Conversion of MicroStation /CAD drawings to other formats such as DWF & PDF for submissions. 

• Creation and editing of drawings & sketches in compliance with WSP’s UK CAD Standards, widely used detailing practices and agreed schedules 

• Ensure drawings are issued, revised appropriately, checked thoroughly, signed by approving supervisor and filed in an appropriate manner • Coordinate and support other CAD Technicians in workload, good detailing practice and work procedures

Key Competencies/ Skills

BIM 360 • AutoCAD Civil3D/Navisworks /any other CAD software Able to demonstrate competence in: • Communication skills • Organization skills • Innovative mindset • Teamwork • Self-development.

Mandatory Skills 

-Must be familiar with AutoCAD/Civil 3D/CAD Lisp tools. 

- 8 years of experience in the preparation for Road drawings that includes Layout Plans, Plan & Profiles (from Civil 3D model) 

-Typical Cross-sections, Traffic Signs and marking drawings, Earthworks drawings. 

- Experience in the preparation of Roadside drainage detail drawings.

- Experience in the preparation of Public Realm design drawings.

- Experience in Key signs/Keylines software. 

- Experience in UK projects and working knowledge of DMRB complaint deliverables are an added advantage.

Desired Skills

-Minimum 2 years UK projectsexperience

-Civil 3D experience is Mandatory

-Should have good communications skills.

-Knowledge on preparation of Drawings from Concept to Construction.

- Redesign drawings according to designer's markups and standard specifications.

-Mentoring a team of 3 to 5 Junior BIM Modellers.

-Maintaining Drawing Control Register. 

- Ensure QA/QC compliance in CAD drawings.
