Summary
The Senior Audio-Visual Engineer delivers advanced, customer-focused A/V engineering and operational support while providing day-to-day technical leadership for the A/V team. This role is accountable for the reliability and performance of conference center and collaboration technologies globally, including Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) environments, enterprise room control platforms, and associated audio/video signal chains. The Senior A/V Engineer partners closely with Client Services to ensure high-quality meeting and event execution, leads troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, and contributes to lifecycle planning, standards, documentation, and continuous improvement of the firm’s A/V infrastructure and user experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver professional, responsive, and solution-oriented A/V support to lawyers, business professionals, and firm clients.
- Provide end-to-end technical support for meetings and conferences, including video conferencing, webinars, content sharing, digital recording, basic post-production editing, and special events.
- Engineer and validate room readiness by configuring, testing, and supporting cameras, microphones, DSP/audio chains, control systems, computers, projectors, displays, and related A/V technologies prior to scheduled events.
- Perform proactive system health checks, troubleshoot failures under time constraints, and drive root-cause analysis to improve service reliability.
- Create, update, and close A/V service tickets for setups, support requests, incidents, and repairs, documenting troubleshooting steps and outcomes.
- Diagnose and repair A/V equipment in-house when feasible and coordinate vendor support/RMA processes as needed.
- Partner with Client Services on meeting planning, third-party coordination, and integration testing to ensure seamless end-user experience.
- Maintain accurate A/V inventory, configuration records, and support documentation (room standards, quick reference guides, and troubleshooting runbooks).
- Stay current on A/V, unified communications, and collaboration technology trends; recommend changes that improve reliability, usability, and supportability.
- Crosstrain on firmwide A/V platforms and standard room designs to ensure comprehensive team coverage and consistent service delivery.
- Maintain timely and regular attendance, provide after-hours support as required for events, and perform other duties as assigned.
Senior-Level Responsibilities
- Train and mentor A/V team members on systems, tools, and best practices.
- Support and engage firm executives for high-profile meetings and events.
- Coordinate and support large-scale events within and outside firm facilities.
- Document and promote standardized A/V procedures and best practices firmwide.
- Lead A/V infrastructure upgrades and maintenance activities; recommend enhancements and improvements.
- Provide scheduled and ad-hoc performance and operational reports to the Audio-Visual Manager.
- Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Pursue continuous professional development through training, certifications, and industry resources.
- Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity, particularly with respect to all sensitive and/or confidential firm and client information to which this position will have access.
Requirements
Education & Credentials
- Associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred (Audio Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field,) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant technical certifications are preferred (e.g., CTS/CTS-I/CTS-D, Microsoft Teams Rooms/Teams certification pathways, Crestron/Extron training, Cisco collaboration certifications, or comparable vendor credentials).
Knowledge & Experience
- Expert-level experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), including Teams Room Pro environments.
- Expert-level experience configuring and supporting Lenovo, Cisco, and comparable A/V devices.
- Advanced expertise with Extron control systems, video matrix switches, and mixers.
- Strong working knowledge of Crestron XIO and Fusion RV enterprise management tools, including provisioning, scheduling, and monitoring.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience supporting video conferencing, room audio systems, and A/V control platforms.
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services IT environment preferred.
Work Conditions
• Based in Washington, D.C.
• Core hours of 9:00am – 5:30pm, Monday-Friday, in-office. Ability for flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, with minimal notice when required. Position requires access to equipment, software, or technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. To be granted access pursuant to US Export Control laws, candidate must be either (a) a United States citizen or national; (b) a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence of the United States (i.e., “Green Card” holder); or (c) an INS-approved refugee or asylum holder who has applied for naturalization within six months of the date the individual first became eligible; and if not yet naturalized, is still actively pursuing naturalization if 2 years have passed since the date of application to be granted access pursuant to US Export Control laws. Candidates will be required to submit appropriate documentation to determine whether access can be granted before proceeding further through the application process.

Salary range of $140,000-$175,000 dependent on candidate experience.
