Teknor Apex is a privately held, family-owned material‑science company founded in 1924 in Rhode Island. We develop tailor‑made polymer solutions for industries such as automotive, healthcare, electronics, construction, packaging, consumer goods, wire & cable, and industrial markets in US, Europe and Asia.
Tek Ventures is a newly created venture capital fund by Teknor Apex, investing in and partnering with early-stage startups in bringing the best of the startup world to Teknor Apex and creating value for our portfolio companies through our operating business and ecosystem relationships. As a materials solutions provider and manufacturer in traditional and bio-based materials, we aim to bring our differentiated assets and capabilities to support startup success and create winning partnerships.
TekVentures is looking for a driven, rigorous and great to work with senior associate for its venture capital fund. This individual will play a central role across the full investment life cycle.
Location: Remote (US East coast preferred)
Reports To: Managing Director, TekVentures
Type: Full-Time
Sourcing & Deal Flow
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with entrepreneurs, accelerators, other investors, and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Actively scout for high-potential startups aligned with the fund’s investment thesis.
- Attend relevant conferences, demo days, and industry events.
Diligence & Execution
- Lead due diligence efforts on potential investments including market analysis, competitive benchmarking, financial modeling, and reference checks.
- Assist in preparing and presenting investment memos in TekVentures partners call and, in some cases, TekVentures investment committee
- Support deal closing activities terms and design startup Teknor collaborations as needed.
Portfolio Management
- Monitor portfolio performance and support monthly/quarterly/annual reporting of fund metrics.
- Support portfolio companies in their follow-on fundraising by connecting them to TekVentures eco-system of investors and corporates.
Firm Strategy & Operations
- Contribute to fund strategy, thesis development, and thematic research.
- Support communications to Teknor Apex board of directors
Qualifications
- ~5 years of experience in venture capital, or a startup leadership role with strong preference to direct investing experience.
- Deep science, chemical engineering or material science backgrounds or deal making expertise
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diligence and close deals independently.
