Key Responsibilities

This position will lead and assist in managing the Supply Chain Excellence Transportation Spend Projects. The position includes project phases - define, measure, analyze, improve and control as needed to deliver measurable business results throughout the enterprise. This position will direct the implementation and maintenance of a Transportation Management System solution for the enterprise. Will analyze cost and economics of movement of material on UA metal versus 3PLS and optimize portfolio of movements of parts through various modes of transportation and monitor spend.

  • Assist in leading and managing the Transportation Spend initiatives, Direct the implementation of the TMS supporting the warehousing operation in updating and maintaining COMAT movements
  • Driving $2M in annual savings in order for the SCE to pay for itself
  • Monitor and reporting shipping cost, direct and optimize shipping priorities
  • Coordination with Procurement and VM, Warehousing and Maintenance on timing, change management, and communication

Qualifications

What’s Needed to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Undergraduate degree in business, a technical field, or an aviation-related discipline, or a project management certification
  • 3 or more years of work experience, in the transportation field either with a 3PL or airline industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge in understanding mode optimization and working with such tool
  • Experience in developing strategies to optimize transportation cost such as a TMS
  • Experience with process/system mapping and analysis
  • Experience presenting, escalating and providing solutions to senior leadership
  • Strong business acumen & the ability to partner effectively across various disciplines
  • Strong ability to understand complex transportation modes and interplay between operational finance & technical decisions
  • Ability in collecting, analyzing & managing quantitative data & creating meaningful analyses to lead business improvement and cost reduction
  • Develop superuser level expertise in supporting the Transportation Management System & develop business tools & solutions to support the department
  • Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Visio and Project proficiency
  • Highly analytical, detail oriented & strong business sense, proven ability to manage new ideas & creative solutions
  • Strong ability to understand complex transportation modes & interplay between operational finance & technical decisions
  • Demonstrated financial acumen & analytical experience delivering forecasting, budgeting & variance analysis on Freight spend
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and service agreements
  • Strong communication
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What Will Help You Propel from the Pack (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Advanced degree
  • 3 to 5 years in Managing Transportation Optimization and Spend for a major company with transportation spend exceeding $50M or and major 3PL
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in Transportation Spend Management, with TMS deployment in the airline industry experience a plus

The base pay range for this role is $81,795.00 to $106,602.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
