Senior Agronomic Solutions Manager

aerialPLOT
Fargo, ND

About aerialPLOT

aerialPLOT turns aerial imagery into plot-level data that ag product companies can leverage for business decisions. We work with seed companies, biological developers, crop input manufacturers, and field researchers that run their trials around the globe. Our headquarters are in Fargo, North Dakota, with a Canadian operating subsidiary based in Saskatoon.

We are a small team that is growing, we are focused on data science and integrated solutions for advancing ag product development and commercialization.

Position Summary

aerialPLOT is hiring a Fargo-based commercial leader to drive adoption of our geospatial multi-factor analytics pipeline (geoMFA), driven by new tools built inside the aerialFARMS cloud software platform as well as a product-focused sales enablement software currently in development. The role is the company's first dedicated commercial hire. Strong preference towards those who have worked with retail and distribution and have experience where the current team does not. This is a senior individual contributor role with material influence over aerialPLOT’s positioning.

The Reality of This Role

aerialPLOT does not have an established sales team in this channel. There is no CRM full of warm leads, no fully developed price book, and no playbook that covers every scoping conversation. What exists is a product with real customers, a clear view of value proposition and key success drivers as well as resources and an extensive data framework to build upon. The candidate who wants a defined quota plugged into a proven process will be unhappy in this role.

This hire will work with senior management at aerialPLOT to build out and expand upon the company’s novel approach to integrate solid, data-driven, objective performance modeling into commercialization and marketing strategies. Help us shake up the status quo in the industry through better data and anchoring on reliable performance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial development

•    Open and develop relationships with commercial leads, product managers, and marketing teams at target ag companies.

•    Run the full sales motion end-to-end: prospecting, discovery, scoping, pricing, proposal, close, and clean handoff to delivery.

•    Build and maintain a named-account plan for the channel, with priorities, key contacts, and progress criteria reviewed quarterly.

Solutioning and account support

•    Translate the product company's commercial objectives into aerialPLOT trial designs, deliverables, and positioning content.

•    Support landed accounts so renewal and expansion happen as a function of delivered value, not relationship maintenance.

•    Serve as the agronomic translator between aerialPLOT's technical team and the product company's commercial team.

•    Extract agronomic insights from structured datasets and make recommendations to strategically position this knowledge for client outcomes.

Product and market feedback

•    Participate actively in geoMFA and product positioning tool development cycles as the senior voice for product company requirements.

•    Document customer objections, competitive intelligence, and emerging use cases for use by product, marketing, and leadership.

Channel presence

•    Represent aerialPLOT at targeted industry events relevant to the product company segment. Selection over volume.

•    Develop and contribute to thought leadership content where it accelerates pipeline.

Required Qualifications

•    Minimum 5+ years of experience selling into, or working inside, ag product companies. Stronger candidates will have 7+ years.

•    Demonstrated agronomic depth. Able to hold an informed conversation on trial design, regional yield drivers, and product positioning across geographies.

•    Track record of opening new commercial accounts, not exclusively managing existing relationships.

•    Comfortable building processes, tools, and materials from scratch.

•    Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate technical capability into commercial value.

•    Based in or willing to relocate to the Fargo, ND metro area within 60 days of hire.

•    Able and willing to travel 30–50% of the time, weighted toward growing season and key conferences.

•    Valid driver's license and passport

•    No sponsorship support will be provided

Preferred Qualifications

•    Existing relationships at commercial or marketing manager level inside ag product companies (seed, crop protection, biologicals, biostimulants, or fertility), retailers and distributors

•    Direct experience inside an ag product company commercial or field development function.

•    Experience selling SaaS, data services, analytics, or research services into the ag value chain.

•    Background in product positioning, geospatial analytics, remote sensing, or precision agriculture.

•    Bachelor's or graduate degree in agronomy, plant science, ag business, or related field.

Year One Success Criteria

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary will be calibrated to the experience and qualifications of the candidate, in the range of $95,000 to $130,000, with variable compensation in the range of 10-20% of total compensation and clauses for meaningful acceleration upon major deals, with retention of sales also factored in. The company offers standard health, dental, and retirement benefits but the individual that is successful in this role will exceed target compensation.

Location, Travel, and Work Arrangement

This role is based in the Fargo, North Dakota metropolitan area. aerialPLOT will support relocation for the right candidate. Travel is expected to run 30 to 50 percent of the time, weighted toward growing season, target conferences, and customer engagement at product company headquarters across the United States and Canada. Day-to-day work outside of travel is hybrid, with a balance of home-office (25%/75%).

Reporting and Governance
