The Senior Accounts Payable Technician reports to theAccounting Supervisor.The primary job duties of this position include:
  • Provides lead accounts payable decisions related to more complex issues with vendors, invoices and Town departments;
  • Provides functional direction and guidance to Accounts Payable Technicians to accomplish the goals of the unit;
  • Trains all new employees and assists with training on new policies, procedures, and system updates;
  • Ensure that workflow and rotating responsibilities of other AP Technicians is equitable, fair, and best meets the Town’s objectives for timely and accurate process and procedures;

  • At least one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance;
  • 4 years of experience running full cycle Accounts Payable for a large organization and internal and external customer service;
  • 4 years of combined education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and customer service principles and practices;
  • Experience in management or leading work-teams;
  • Experience with electronic vendor payments;
  • Skill in conducting research and solving problems;
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with time being split between telecommuting from home and working in the office. Telecommuting privileges are approved at the sole discretion of the supervisor and department management; as such, the department reserves the right to modify or discontinue telecommuting arrangements at any point. Regardless of work location (Remote, On-Site, or Hybrid), Town of Gilbert employees are required to reside in the State of Arizona.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation.
