In support of PPCWNY’s mission, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the company’s financial procedures and records are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), laws and regulations.
Essential Functions- Reviews and oversees daily, monthly, and yearly procedures of the finance department that ensure financial transactions are timely, accurate, and complete
- Oversees the Staff Accountant and AP Representative’s scope of work and provides coaching and training as needed
- Creates, maintains, and monitors daily cash flow
- Reviews and approves all check runs
- Completes daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries, cash receipts, and A/R invoices in the financial system
- Creates and maintains monthly, quarterly, and yearly schedules for financial analysis and reporting
- Prepares and analyzes monthly account reconciliations identified on the reconciliation schedule to ensure proper process and procedures are followed
- Reviews and approves monthly account reconciliations as assigned to ensure proper process and procedures are followed
- Creates and distributes monthly reporting timely and accurately to Executive Leadership
- Provides financial support and analysis for Executive Leadership
- Maintains and records fixed assets according to policy and works with Purchasing Manager to ensure proper tracking and inventory of company assets
- Assists in the interim and year-end audit schedules and prepares supporting documentation as assigned by Director of Finance
- Shows respect to all internal and external customers for differences in backgrounds, lifestyles, viewpoints, and needs.
Other Accountability Activities
- Provides guidance and assistance to other members of the Finance team as needed
- Serves as backup to Junior Staff Accountant
- Identifies improvements to current processes and makes recommendations
- Implements and reviews new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Supports and participates in affiliate initiatives
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
QualificationsApplicants must possess the following qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Experience
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience in professional level positions including at least 1 year of experience overseeing operational financial month end processes, account reconciliation, and analyses
- Experience in healthcare industry highly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and accounting software is required; experience with MIP and EPIC is preferred
- Experience in financial report writing is preferred
- Experience with grants financial reporting a plus
- Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial personnel in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and critical thinking
- Must be highly adaptable, detail oriented with a high level of accuracy, and able to work autonomously while following standardized practices and/or methods
- Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with confidential information is required
- Ability to travel to affiliate site(s) on a periodic basis

Work Schedule
This is a full-time, 40 hour a week, position; regular schedule will be Monday – Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
Benefits & Compensation
At PPCWNY, we are committed to equitable compensation practices and transparency. In alignment with these efforts, the pay for this position ranges from $65,436.80 to $75,753.60 per year. Actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
