Sherwood Avionics of HEICO is currently recruiting a Senior Accountant based in Miami, Florida. Sherwood is expanding its Finance department to enable it to transition to a more formal and rigorous reporting and financial internal control environment. This position reports directly to the Controller.

In this position, the Senior Accountant will likely:


  • Assist with the accuracy and timeliness of the month end close cycle, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and variance analysis of the financial statements.
  • Perform processing and reconciling functions to various sub-ledgers related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Fixed Assets, and Operating Leases.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with other cash management functions.
  • Assist with the management of inventory, including tracking/valuing all materials, work in progress, and finished goods at month-end. Oversee cycle count program and annual physical inventory count.
  • Assist with the implementation of Work in Progress and Finished Goods valuation methodology adjustments related to applied labor and overhead as well and the establishment of appropriate inventory reserves as required by US GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Assist with the development of an over-time revenue recognition model in accordance with US GAAP ASC 606.
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing adherence to Financial Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 internal controls in accordance with designed control templates.
  • Assist with the annual detail budgeting process as well as with weekly forecast updates.
  • Provide other financial, administrative, and operational support as needed.
  • Other related ad-hoc reporting and analysis as necessary.

Requirements/Experience:

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting. CPA or eligible to sit for the CPA exam is preferred.

* Minimum of five years of experience in financial accounting (industry or industry/public mix).

* Strong analytical skills and the ability to clearly express an opinion or interpretation of various analysis, schedules or statement and results.

* Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or MRO environment is a plus.

* Strong work ethic (willingness to work hard and long hours, when needed).

* Strong Excel skills are a must. General working knowledge of ERP reporting packages are a plus.

* Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees of all levels, including senior management.

* Highly responsive to customer requirements, with a high attention for detail and accuracy.

* Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.

* Must be flexible and able to multi-task in a time-sensitive environment.
