Position Summary

The Senior Accountant (Family Office) is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and cash management activities for family entities, trusts, and personal accounts. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and effective coordination of cash flow to support ongoing financial operations.

This position operates within a collaborative, high-trust environment that values professionalism, discretion, and responsiveness. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a setting that requires both technical expertise and strong interpersonal judgment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Record, track, and reconcile capital contributions and distributions across family entities, trusts, and personal accounts, including detailed sources and uses of funds.
  • Ensure all transactions align with the current organizational and ownership structure.
  • Maintain detailed schedules of ownership, equity balances, and funding/refinancing activity.
  • Prepare and submit cash funding requests for budgeted and approved expenditures.
  • Coordinate wires, transfers, and intercompany funding activities with senior leadership.
  • Calculate and process quarterly interest payments on notes accurately and on schedule.
  • Ensure timely payment of quarterly and annual tax estimates in coordination with tax advisors.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records for all assigned entities and accounts.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including cash flow summaries and account activity.
  • Support year-end close and provide documentation for tax preparation.
  • Respond to requests from external tax accountants and advisors.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports to support decision-making, cash management, and requests from leadership and family members.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field required, master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a public accounting firm or family office environment.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and cash management.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Yardi or similar accounting systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with internal stakeholders and family members.

  • Ability to perform routine office tasks that includes operating a computer for long periods of time, sitting, filing and communicating on the phone
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull a maximum of 30 lbs.
