The Senior Accountant position is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. In conjunction with the Vice President of Finance, the Senior Accountant will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting to include daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities. This person is also expected to make recommendations to upper management for developing and maintaining accounting principles, internal control policies, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is required to meet tight deadlines and a wide variety of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, account reconciliations and financial planning. 

 

Primary responsibilities of this position include the following:

 

·      Manage all aspects of accounting, including billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses

·      Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations

·      Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time

·      Ensures that all reporting deadlines are met or exceeded

·      Process account receipts and collecting payments

·      Process preliminary notices, lien releases, past due notices via Levelset software or by customer request

·      Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money

·      Monitor cash and funding balances

·      Ensure that intercompany accounts are in balance

·      Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly

·      Assists with import documentation and tracking through logistics partners, as needed

·      Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts

·      Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review

·      Prepare quarterly/annual financial reports in a timely manner

·      Assist with the annual budgets and periodic forecasts (every two months)

·      Assist with financial analysis, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with Senior Management

·      Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors

·      Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices

·      Analyzes, develops and documents accounting and cost procedures and controls related to assigned tasks

·      Oversees and ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures (Employee reimbursement, Purchasing)

·      Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting

·      Ensuring company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements

·      Conduct extensive communication with company leadership across business functions (Accounting, Legal, Treasury, Financial Planning, Operations)

·      Custodian of the company’s cash assets

·      Additional accounting-related duties as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

·      Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field, required

·      Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license, preferred

·      Ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in an accounting lead role or higher position

·      Experience with accounting in manufacturing and/or construction industry is preferred.

·      Experience with sales and use taxes in a multi-state environment is preferred.

·      Excellent computer skills required; experience in accounting software QuickBooks and Microsoft 365 suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word; databases, and other systems knowledge. Experience with software systems implementation is preferred.

·      Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·      Experience with contractual decision making is preferred.

·      Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations

·      Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations

·      Attention to detail

·      Interpersonal and supervisory skills

·      Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced work environment

·      Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members

WORKING CONDITIONS:

·      Ability to work mostly in the corporate office setting within the USA (currently Austell, GA).

·      Ability to spend up to 20% of your working time traveling on the road visiting the corporate headquarters, related companies, and various service providers including insurance, banking, audit, tax, and various other consultants. Good time management skills are needed to plan ahead for all travel.
