Senior Accountant/Auditors who perform complex professional accounting duties requiring preparation and interpretation of financial statements and reports; establishes new accounting procedures and controls; performs complex compliance and operational audits of departments, special districts, and programs; analyzes and advises management on a variety of fiscal matters.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)Auditing Pay Differential - 2.0%above base rate of pay. (ATC/HS only)Certified Public Accountant Stipend - $750annual CPA stipend for employees who attain and maintain a valid CPA License.The eligible list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill vacancies in the
San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and

The salary for San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (Accountant (Fire Department)) is $75,067 - $103,542 annually (range N39). For additional details, refer to the Fire Auxiliary Services Unit MOU and Benefits Summary.
The salary for Special Districts (Accountant III (Special Districts)) is $75,046 - $108,721 annually (range N39). For additional details, refer to the Non-Represented Employee Compensation Plan andBenefits Summary.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTTravel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.Background:Candidates selected for this position must pass a background investigation and medical examination including drug screening; candidates selected for law enforcement departments, public safety positions, or positions where legally required, must pass a more stringent background check.

CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATIONMust possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economicsOR a bachelor's degree in another field which must include 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting.(Transcripts with qualifying coursework is required if degree is in another field.)EXPERIENCEMust possess two (2) years of full-time equivalent
professional-level auditing and/or accounting experience.

Clerical/bookkeeping experience is not considered qualifying.EDUCATIONQualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
