The Security Lieutenant provides leadership and operational oversight for campus security services, reporting directly to the Security Chief. This position supervises, coordinates, and supports the daily activities of Security Corporals and Security Officers, including both commissioned and non-commissioned personnel. The Lieutenant ensures the effective deployment of security staff, promotes a safe and secure campus environment, and supports compliance with College policies, procedures, and applicable laws. While not a sworn law enforcement role, the position plays a critical leadership function in incident response, patrol operations, training, and customer-focused safety services for the College community.Supervising (35%)
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Security Corporals and Security Officers.
  • Observe and evaluate assigned staff in the performance of their duties to ensure compliance with College policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Enforce performance expectations and address performance issues as needed.
  • Inspect uniforms, equipment, and assigned gear to ensure proper condition and professional appearance.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive monthly reports, activity logs, and related statistics.
  • Supervise and assign staff for overtime and special duty assignments.
  • Receive, review, and manage complaints involving assigned staff in accordance with established procedures.
  • Coordinate and monitor licensing, commissioning, and compliance requirements for armed security personnel assigned to the facility.
Patrolling Designated Areas (15%)
  • Patrol assigned areas, including residence halls, and provide coverage as needed to maintain staffing requirements.
  • Perform daily directed patrols as assigned.
Accountability and Conflict Management (10%)
  • Ensure managers and other appropriate administrative personnel are informed and kept up to date regarding emergencies, incidents, and special circumstances.
  • Address security incidents independently and ensure proper documentation and reporting as required.
Special Events (10%)
  • Provide support during special events (e.g., athletic events, concerts, theater events, etc.).
Training (10%)
  • Orient and train new Security Officers in security procedures.
  • Schedule subordinate training.
Duty Title (For the Department’s Use) (20%)
  • Remaining percentage will be determined by department to meet business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Must have served at Security Corporal rank with a minimum of twenty-four (24) months total service in the Security Officer Program, or other comparable full-time employment
  • Must have completed Lee College Supervisor Session
  • Valid state-issued vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of accepting assignment
  • Active Texas DPS Security License
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all segments of campus population
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively
  • Requires lift lifting and/or moving of packages
  • Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat/cold
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to go up and down stairs
  • Ability to operate a four-wheel mobile patrol unit
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possess Level III Commissioned Security Officer License from the State of Texas
