GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Department of Corrections at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins is dedicated to public safety, professional excellence, and fostering a supportive work environment where employees can thrive. We are currently seeking a dependable, self-motivated individual who takes pride in maintaining safety and order to join our team as a Construction & Security Escort.
In this role, you’ll play an essential part in the day-to-day operations of the facility—helping ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and contractors. You’ll manage secure checkpoints and entryways, escort vendors and visitors throughout the facility, and help uphold the high standards and procedures that keep the institution running safely and efficiently.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public service in a meaningful way, with varied daily assignments and responsibilities. While you won’t directly supervise inmates, your role is critical in supporting overall facility security and operations. You may also have the opportunity to work in control centers, gaining valuable experience in correctional security systems.

- Escort outside contractors, vendors, and visitors throughout prison grounds.
- Assist with running a control center to include gates, doors, and camera surveillance.
- Assist with processing staff through and maintaining the security of entryways.
- Perform security and safety checks, surveillance, inventories, and searches.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
- Maintains a variety of records and logs and prepares staff reports as necessary.
- Required to check out keys for access to different areas of the facility.
- Conduct tool inventories.
PREFERENCES:Preferences will be given to those with 1-2 years of experience in a security role. KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
- Knowledge of security measures, techniques, and precautions necessary to maintain a safe and secure institution.
- Ability to enforce rules professionally.
